35 Weeks...Counting down the days!

I can't believe that I'm 35 weeks already! The time seems to be flying by, and pretty soon our little girl will arrive! I had another doctors appointment yesterday, and the baby's been in the head-down position for about a month now. Doesn't look like she's going anywhere or rolling anymore, so that's great news. I'm on the two week plan for now, but after my next appointment, we go to every week. The baby room is coming together. All of our furniture is assembled, and I've done all the baby laundry up to 3 months. Craig and I are talking about what we need to pack in our hospital bag now. We're a bit nervous, but we have a great OB to support us, so that makes us feel better. Now everyone's taking bets on when the baby will come! This may well be my last update until the baby comes, but if anything interesting comes up, I'll post it.

Well, here we are at 29 weeks, in the third trimester already! Craig and I are kinda freaked by the fact that we could be having a baby as early as 8 weeks from now!!! So crazy to think about!

Things are going so well in my pregnancy. I've been able to keep up with my grueling 12 hour days at work, and remain relatively active. I am starting to get more tired lately, but nothing like in that first trimester!!! H1N1 hit my unit at the hospital last week, but not to worry: I got both of my flu vaccines, so that means my baby and I are safeguarded from both the regular flu and H1N1. Plus, the baby will have the immunity for three months after she's born (bonus!!).

My belly has started morphing at random times, and it usually looks like I have an alien in my belly. Craig and I get a kick out it. She's an active one. We just got our baby room furniture, but haven't put it together yet. We're working on clearing out our extra bedroom, then we'll paint it (pale yellow, I think), then we'll get to set up the furniture. I can't wait to see it! I'll post pictures when it starts to come together.

Meanwhile, I'm starting to gear up for the holidays; knowing that they will come fast as they always do, and that the birth will be upon us before we know it! I am trying to get all my Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving. I don't want to be 37 weeks pregnant and battling Christmas shopping crowds! Best to stay out of the malls at that time of year.

A 20 Week Treat from Craig!

Do I have a great husband, or what? Craig suprised me this past weekend with a trip to San Diego! We flew out on Friday evening, and came home Monday morning. It was WONDERFUL. It is just so nice to get away from Tucson for a weekend. The weather was perfect and we had so much fun. On Saturday we went to Sea World and battled the crowds of screaming kids and parents (making us wonder if we made the right decision to have kids!). Ultimately, it was fun. The Shamu show was well worth the trip, and the dolphins were pretty cool, too. That evening we got to go see the Cardinals play (I mean "beat") the Padres. Craig got us great seats amongst the hundreds of other Cards fans there, right by third base. On Sunday we slept in and hung out at the oceanfront in La Jolla for the day. It was very nice.

By now I'm feeling the baby move alot, which is totally cool. I'm also growing pretty fast. I'm starting to not fit in my regular clothes (even with rubberband modifications!) anymore, so I'm having to buy maternity clothes (which I'm not quite big enough for yet). I guess I'm at an in between stage. But with the rate that I'm growing, it shouldn't be long until I really fit into those maternity clothes. People are also starting to recognize my belly as being pregnant (not just a beer gut!), which is nice.

Craig and I are looking forward to our trip to St. Louis next month for Heather and Greg's wedding. We can't wait to see everyone!

It's a girl!

Yesterday we had our 18 week ultrasound, and we found out we're having a baby girl!!! The ultrasound lady said she was 99.9% sure it is a girl. We were so awestruck to see our little one on the screen so clearly! The tech went through all the systems and showed us all the baby's developing organs...brain, heart, lungs, diaphragm, stomach, kidneys, and bladder. Everything appears to be developing normally. It was so cute to see the baby moving, and to see her hands and legs so clearly! Pretty soon we'll start getting the baby room decorated!

16 Weeks & Counting...

Craig and I are so excited about the growth and development of our little one! We are counting the days until our "big ultrasound" on August 13, when we get to see the little one and find out if we're having a girl or a boy (we are taking bets!). So far, my pregnancy's been pretty easy, no morning sickness, just exhaustion in my first trimester. At 9 weeks I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time, which made it all so real for me. Being pregnant without the belly or the kicks, when the only real annoying symptom you have is being tired, makes it all seem so unreal. At 10 weeks we had our first ultrasound, which was awesome! Craig and I weren't sure what we would be able to see at only 10 weeks, but the baby had clear arms and legs and was moving and turning all over the place! We were both in shock. It is so weird to see that little being inside my belly moving so much, but not be able to feel a thing.

So far, I haven't actually felt the baby move yet (I don't think I have, anyways), but at my last doctors appt, we heard the doppler heartbeat again and also got to hear a kick. I can't wait to feel the little one moving and kicking! I'm also now starting to sport a pregnant belly, which is pretty weird. None of my clothes fit anymore and I've resorted to using rubberbands to button my pants. The belly bands really smooth things out nicely, so I don't just look pudgy.

We've been working on getting our house cleaned and organized better, and soon we'll get to start working on our baby room! I can't wait to start painting and decorating.
